Impulse buying = BAD idea = bailing out time has come

Postby dcalhoun38581 » Sat Jan 03, 2015 7:03 pm

No matter how much I do indeed LOVE the 1967 Olds Toronado (I thing it is one of the greatest American Automotive works of art EVER!) the one I bought on an impulse one night has turned out to be more than I can handle the restoration needs of. I'm listing it for sale on EBay on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015 (item # 121535487880), just in case any of you are interested. I need something I can afford and enjoy without having to work my skinny, old behind off for too long and too much money. I've already found something too, but not ready to let the cat out of the bag just yet. :D

One of these days I hope to try again, but not right now.

BTW, there IS a pretty good 1967 Toro available on EBay right now, but the seller, who I have exchanged a few messages with, wants $13,000 for it and that is more than I can afford. EBay item # 181630495716

DC,

The item number you gave for your Toronado (121535487880) has been removed from the listing. What gives?

I too bought my '66 Toronado on impulse when it was offered to me at a price I couldn't refuse. Fortunately it didn't/doesn't need a lot of work. I had to replace an exhaust valve spring that broke a week after I got it but that was it.

Good luck on your next purchase.

That car looks like it could be driven for a good long time before it would need a restoration,
unless you are trying to compete at the highest show levels..

Good luck whatever you do, it's been a pleasure to have your energy here!

eBay item number:

121535487880
Has NOT been removed and it is Very active! :D

I've just made an offer to trade my /67 Toro and a Custom pickup I recently bout for this car, but I don't know if he will accept it or not yet.

Now your item number is working.

That car you're considering looks pretty nice. Is it close to you so you can view it in person before you buy/trade?

No, it's in Texas and I'm in Tennessee. Besides, I found out his minimum price is more than I can afford anyway. I've decided to give it a rest for a while too, but I may try again at some point in the future.

Reserve is off, looks like a sale!

Hope you get back what you have into it, it's a pretty car.

Looks can be deceiving. The "Buyer" still has not replied to my messages. It looks like a "no pay".

This really stinks. $4,000 is about half of what I have in it. :(

If anyone wants this car, please make an offer. It's gotta go, one way or another.

I'm seriously considering selling the wheels and tired apart from the car, then sell the car for parts.

It does have GOOD front wheel disc brakes, an HEI distributor and a three wire alternator with a built in regulator. The WHOLE body is sound, except the roof (Vinyl top held water that rusted the roof metal, as always).

FYI

The buyer DID pay up and Regan left home today.

Yup, it's a sad day for a short lived and expensive relationship that I HOPE to rectify some day, if I live long enough.

This car LOOKS SO gorgeous, but has SO many things that don't work at all. Way to many things for my limited resources to be able to fix. Sorry, Honey, no matter how heart wrenching it may be for me, ya gotta go find a sugar daddy!
