I acquired a straight trunk for my car. The previous one had collision damage and was missing the lock. This "new" one is a bit rusty, but practically damage free. The back of my car looks better already!

1969 right? why didn't you paint it before fitting to the car? I have replaced mine but couldn't get it as straight as your looks, good job.

That's a rare two tone option.

I just fitted it without paint to see if it was straighter than my original one. The underside is rusty and I will need to take care of that. Until then, it looks better than the old one, even in a different color. Here's a picture of the original lid.

Yes, definitely looks better than the old one regardless of color.

How can you tell it's from a vinyl top car, Bill?

Its always about the details, even with the most subtle of differences if one knows exactly what your looking for or at they're easy to spot ...... this case is a bit straight forward as the vinyl top trim is present on the front /top lip of the trunk lid where it meets the rear vent grill.
For what it worth the 70 drip lip at the rear bottom edge of the trunk lid is slightly different than that of the 69, this though is from 69 based on its Toronado script with 'by Oldsmobile'.
The 70 script is block lettering and looses the 'by Oldsmobile'

Hey, your car is the same color as mine! I believe this is Autumn Gold Metallic, can you confirm?

The other possibility is Aztec Gold Metallic, but I am pretty sure the former is correct.

I also have some issues with my tail end - it was hit once and never fully repaired properly so my trunk is not perfectly lined up. That said it is after all a driver and whatever cred I lose for the less than perfect condition I quickly regain when I open the hood...

Your car certainly looks very nice indeed!

I'm not sure what the color is. Is the paint code on the data plate?
