I have a nice clean straight trunk if you want to get rid of that crease.

OMG Nooooooo are you out of your mind  that's factory and is very unique. For those that don't know I maintain a database of 66-70 Toros. VIN's, body plates and photos to ID we have learned a lot about each year. This give us a window like never before that provide a wealth of information.
This particular anomaly (the trunk crease) has about a 500 unit give or take for its application.
These things don't come easily and if you want to be on par with restoration this is where it starts.

Funny. I noticed the crease while waxing the car and didn't give it any thought. I looked to see if there was a subtle crease in the center of the roof or hood but of course there isn't. I just figured all of them were made that way.

.... all in good fun guys  just one of the those things that get buy us if you didn't know what we're looking for or at (as it is) one would think as Otto did that's the way they all were! If you look closely at the photo this trunk lid has it too, and this is 13354. One can see the hard break in the reflection I've highlighted with 3 arrows.

Only 39 cars apart on the line.

Do you know what serial number they started with and what number it ended with?

As of yet i do not know the exact beginning or end of the crease run.Agreed there is only a 39 unit separation as far as the VIN ins concerned. It is though a body related item hence the sequence is dictated by the EUC number of the body plate AKA body ID/production number, and bears no relationship to the VIN or in anyway does it ID the car.
The body plate is located on the cowl above the power brake booster. Unfortunately I do not have the body plate info for the gold car, if memory serves the built date of Otto's car is 12A I am somewhat confident that the majority of the cars that carry the trunk crease will have that built date.

You are correct, it's 12-A.

Does that mean 1st week of December or what?

Yes and no the built date is not actual the date the car was built, very good evidence though does show that, it is the date the order was placed into the system, this was determined comparing build sheets to the given cars. Which yes would be the first week of Dec 65.
