Re: Dangerous brakes on 1966 Toronado and other cars

Unless your current system is shot, I'd leave it alone and just make sure that all components are functioning correctly. I don't own a modern vehicle and every car I drive has a single reservoir m/c. I have never had one fail in my entire life. Of course, as with any vehicle modern or old, you shoul...

Re: transmission seals replaced 66 toronado

I would leave well enough alone with a drip as small as that. I wouldn't trust anybody to open up a TH425 and know what to do these days.

I have had EXCELLENT results with Lucas transmission stop leak on small leaks like yours.

Re: Gas gage

Check your ground connections first. Fluctuating gas gauge is usually caused by an iintermittent ground in the system.

Run a test wire bypassing the existing wiring and see if anything changes.

You may also have a float sticking or sending unit arm hanging up.

Re: Dual pot master cylinder upgrade?

I don't know the answer to that question but I will say that if you're brakes are working properly now, I'd leave them alone. With one exception, every vehicle I own has single res m/c. I have never had a problem and I've never owned a modern vehicle. Make sure your brake system is in top shape and ...

Re: Howdy from Houston - 66 Deluxe

Hi Janice. I'm also from Cleveland but have lived in Atlanta since high school. Don't be fooled into believing the myth that disc brakes are an upgrade. Many believe that stopping power will be increased and stopping distance will be shortened. In reality, disc brakes may lengthen stopping distance....

Re: front bumper installation

Do you have the headlight splash shields that protect the headlamps when the headlight doors are closed? I can't tell from the photo. Most cars seem to be missing them.

Re: 66' Toro CV axle

I suggest sending your original units to a rebuilder like Cardone.

Look up Applied GMC (new name now but I can't remember it). They offer rebuild services for the cv axles. Jim is an expert on GMC Motor Homes which utilize Toro drivetrain. He's extremely helpful.
