Re: interior Courtesy Lamp Covers- REAR- 1966

Have you ever visited the Oldsmobile Toronado Facebook group?

There are a lot of people on it all the time and someone might have some or even have made some for sale.

Re: interior Courtesy Lamp Covers- REAR- 1966

There are kits and plastics that can be purchased to make your own. If you have reasonable DIY skills, you should be able to make a mold of the best one, clean up the flaws and cast new ones. I've done this with other plastic items for various vehicles. Start by going to Eastwood and see what they h...

That's great. The car looks perfect. Was the engine and trans usable as is or did you have to have them rebuilt?

Re: 67 toronado parts

John Dorcey might be interested in the entire car if you don't get any takers on the parts you don't need.

Look for weird stuff nobody thinks about like headlight splash shields, engine splash shields, hood hinges, etc.

Re: Strange Oil Smoke ‘66 Toro

In your photo the PCV valve is on the driver's side. Are you talking about the air intake thing you have on the passenger side? I'm wondering if the sudden decrease in engine speed has anything to do with it? oil getting past valve guides or seals? Perhaps oil is being sucked into the carburetor thr...

Re: transmission seals replaced 66 toronado

I'm not sure what caused the fire. The starter began to spin the engine while it was burning because some wires got fused together or something. I believe it was an electrical fire in the dash. I'm still sad about losing that car. It was a fairly low mileage original car that spent most of its life ...

Your wife's car is gorgeous. If she ever wants to sell it, let me know.

Is it a deluxe or base?

Re: transmission seals replaced 66 toronado

Talk about a coincidence. I'm currently having the exact problem with a 1956 Cadillac. When completing a left turn, the turn signal lever does not return fully to the home position. I have to manually click it into position. If I forget to do it, I end up with no brake lights on that side. I think y...

Re: Hard starting '66 Toronado

The Q jet is an excellent carburetor if tuned and rebuilt properly . Make sure your points and ignition parts are in perfect shape. Condensers are all Chinese junk these days. If you have an old one, put it on. Make sure timing is dead on 7.5 degrees BTDC. What about your fuel pump? Make sure its pe...

Re: Dangerous brakes on 1966 Toronado and other cars

Unless your current system is shot, I'd leave it alone and just make sure that all components are functioning correctly. I don't own a modern vehicle and every car I drive has a single reservoir m/c. I have never had one fail in my entire life. Of course, as with any vehicle modern or old, you shoul...
