Re: 69 Toronado Brake Problems

Be more specific. When you say "good brake pedal" do you mean that its relatively "high" and dosnt go all the way to the floor when pressed? Next is the brake pedal very hard when you press it? If its hard check to make sure that you do have vaccum at the booster and that nothing...

1966 Pitman Arm question.... Will 67 onward work/fit

I've owned my 66 TOronado since 1984 and even back then nobody had a listing for a 1966 Pitman arm (the arm on the pwr steering box). They listed 67 onward, but no 66. IS a 1966 pitman arm different? I would imagine its NOT as far as I know a 67 gear box will interchange with a 66 so at least the sp...

1966 Toronado parking brake release handle question

This is a two fold question.... I own a 66 and the bushing/gromet that holds the parking brake release rod in place and keeps it from flopping around is missing/all dried up. A) Who has this bushing/grommet? B) Does the handle for the parking brake unsrew from the rod OR is it permenantly molded to ...

Re: More '67 Turn Signal Switch Problems

Im not sure what exactly is wrong with your switch BUT if the plastic housing isn't cracked or broken you CAN take these switches apart you know. THey come apart fairly easily and sometimes all they need is cleaning of contacts, a little silicone grease and your good to go!

Re: Is it heresy?

I agree I like the honeycomb grille pattern too! AS for the 1970 for sale ....it looks fantastic! I immediately thought "something doesnt look right, but it looks GOOD" then it came to me. I wonder IF they are working or just set in there and resting in place? Nice job if they are working!...

Re: 455 won't start / 1970 Toro

I've found that NOBODY i've ever gone to can rebuild a carb properly!! They typically ALWAYS screw up something that the car either bogs under acceleration or it dosnt idle right or BOTH! I think they re-adjust the float which was fine and they get it out of wack! I dont touch the float if the carb ...

Does anyone here have cars with NO right side CV axle damper

If so do you notice any vibration? My 66 has always had an axle with a damper on it and i can do 60, 80, 120 and its smooth as silk, no shimmy or vibrations. Also does anyone know for SURE if 1966 was the only year to use a Damper on the right side? As far as I knew all 1966-78 TOro and Eldos had da...

Re: Can't believe my cv boot posts has 35 views & not ONE re

As I knew ALL these Toronados 66-78 and Eldos had dampers on the right side. As for after market axles you are correct in that they make replacement ones and they can be had for reasonable prices $85-$110 on Ebay or internet. I recently bought a GSP axle for my Toronado. As you mentioned all these c...

Re: I'm thinking of doing the Disc conversion on my '66 a fe

THanks for the reply. I wonder why the 66 beauty rings cant be used? Something I think I read about there being 1/4" LESS space on the disc rims edge then drum style rim. As for the other parts... i was going to send the Master cylinder/booster out as a core. Same goes for the calipers, was goi...
