66 Toro AIR System -- friend or foe?
I have a 66 Toro that originally came from California. As a result, it has the AIR system on it for anti-pollution. I am attaching two photos for the members to see what the AIR system entails. The question for the members -- should I leave the AIR on or take it off. On one hand, I like keeping it o...

Decode Data Plate 66 Toro
Any thoughts on the EXS 2R 3P 5Y I know it is options but would be nice to know. It is a Deluxe model with remote trunk opener, power windows, power antenna, no air, it is a California car so it has the A.I.R system on it -- so I suspect one of those codes is for that. Does not have cornering lights...

Re: Decode 1966 Data plate?
My data plate shows 052-D -- I believe it is for green trim (which it is) and the "D" stands for deluxe.
My care does not have the headrest option either.

Re: Any connection between vehicle VIN and engine #
I have looked at the Protecto Plate which does show in addition to the VIN the engine serial number and what I believe to be the transmission serial number -- OJ-17831 (my care has a 68 Eldo tranny now with an AJ in the serial number. So I believe the answer to my question is the serial numbers of t...

Any connection between vehicle VIN and engine #
So I was watching old Wayne Carrini on Chasing Classic Cars and he was comparing a serial # on the frame of a Ferrari with the # on the engine block. Which got me thinking -- are there any similar connections on Toro's? The VIN on my 66 is: 396876M516031 (and I took that off the protecto plate which...

Re: Simple Speedometer Correction
I wanted to thank the posters of this topic. I just installed the device and now have a more accurate speedo -- thanks for saving me the research. The Toro Board at its best. Rds, Thad Dupper, Colorado

Re: Is It The Original Engine?
Having done some more work I found: The engine unit number from the engine tag behind the alternator as: N 624834 T The Block Casting Number (behind the water pump) of: 389244D On either head the casting number looks like: 389 896 (it could be the starting 3 is an 8 -- hard to tell). Each head has a...
