Re: What is the HP rating for a stock 1968 to 70 Toronado 455?

Again, though, does your guy want the hp rating to the wheel or the hp of a naked engine running on an engine stand? The engine HP... That is how the BTUs are calculated... What do you know about the particular engine you're using? Did you rebuild it before installing it? Incorrect timing (vac adva...

Here is the big old 455 in the back and note the radiator is behind the power-plant and all that heat too. My 455 Tornado power-plant. Still not 100% sure what year it is. 455 in UV520.png New Flex-a-Lite radiator and fan installed. (Taken in 2014) New Radiator Installed.png Mocking up a doghouse, t...

Re: What is the HP rating for a stock 1968 to 70 Toronado 455?

What do you mean by true hp? None of the figures published by automakers in the 60s can be considered accurate. They were theoretical numbers based on engines without accessories or transmissions. Basically it was the engine performing no work at all. In reality, the actual "to the wheel"...

What is the HP rating for a stock 1968 to 70 Toronado 455?

Hello Everyone, I hope you project(s) have been going well. It's been a long time since I was last here. Life has kept me from my projects. But now I'm able to get back at it and I want to play catch up as fast as I can. Grin I'm designing a hydraulic cooling system for my odd ball project and I nee...

Looking for a Remote Oil Filter and External Oil Cooler Setup for the 455

Is there a Remote Oil Filter and External Oil Cooler Setup for the 455?

Does anyone have one? IF SO - Do you like it and how long have you been using it?

Where can you get one?

Thank you,

Tony

Re: Wondering what they are used for?

Otto, You might be right... It is raining and I am not able to crawl under the coach to see. I only saw it from above. Grin Looking down from the top it is angled - kind of like where you put side motor mounts. Hopefully the rain will stop soon and I can go see under the coach. But I am sure you are...

Re: I could use some help to ID Engine.

Engine ID - Do Olds engine codes tell you what year engine you have? Or do they simply put you in a given set of years that your engine was used? I really would like to know what year engine I have and stop the guess work. Some people have told me A and others tell me B... Where are all the importan...

Re: Wondering what they are used for?

I see the oil filter and then there is a boss or rectangle area across from the filter and it is part of the frame itself. It looks like something goes there. Because there are two holes ther...
