Re: 1966 Toronado Parting Out

Russ, Your front bumper can most likely be straightened and rechromed. My rear bumper was crushed in recently in a collision. I got it back and it looks better than new for $560. The quote for the 3 front pieces was about $1100 total to do the same thing. The chrome gives a flat quote to R&R a b...

Re: Toronado Drive Report video

You're talking to a guy who's most modern vehicle is a 1956 Cadillac (yes, I consider it to be more modern than the Toro, front drive excepted. It has power everything and a/c. The Toro does not. It also has better brakes . I'm lucky I can even view video, let alone shoot one and upload it. I still ...

Re: 66 Toro AIR System -- friend or foe?

In that case I would leave well enough alone with the AIR system. It looks really clean in the pics and if the pump isn't making noise or seized up there's no reason to remove it.

I'd only remove it if you plan on doing a lot of driving or if the pump breaks.

Re: 66 Toro AIR System -- friend or foe?

Did you already post pictures of your car? I don't remember. Do you plan on driving it like a regular car or just taking it to car shows once in a while? If it's going to see limited use and short pleasure trips, I'd leave the AIR system alone. it's unique, most people have never seen one, and it's ...

Re: 66 Toro AIR System -- friend or foe?

Here are A.I.R. plugs for a Corvette. I don't know if the threads are the same. I was told that the Olds are probably unique and may not be NPT either. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1966-1982-Corvette-Exhaust-Manifold-A-I-R-Hole-Plug-Kit-/141788093238?hash=item21033a9b36:g:eLMAAOSwiLdWCsvX&vxp=mtr Her...

Re: spark plugs for my 66

I drive my car as daily transportation and on long trips. I currently use AC R43S. These have a heat range of 5. The plugs in it when I bought it were AC R45S which have a heat range of 6. I suspect the R46 would be heat range 7 whis is two heat range graduations hotter than the spec'd plug. I think...

Re: spark plugs for my 66

What plugs are in your car now? How are they performing and how do they look? If they're carbon fouled or oil fouled and have a lot of deposits on them, a plug with a higher heat range can help alleviate that problem. If the plugs you're using are working properly and look normal, don't use a plug w...

Just wondering, does your A.I.R. system work?

Re: 66 Toro AIR System -- friend or foe?

Without the AIR pump, just use the belts designed for the non AIR cars.

Which belt drives the AIR pump? On Cadillacs, the morons at GM decided to piggyback on the water pump belt. The AIR pump seizes up and kills the water pump, cooking your engine.
