Re: Signs of an engine overhaul?

I am not seriously thinking of buying this car, but it raises some questions; that red engine for one. I agree that the exterior and interior need far too much work for the asking price. You are correct Bruce that the 425 was not used in the motorhome, but were there 425 engines that came in a facto...

Re: 66 Toro engine ID

I have seen a 66 Toronado with a red engine installed. I only have access to photos so I can't check the numbers. My research shows that a red 425 would be a low compression engine. Do a Google search for Oldsmobile engine identification and you will find a lot of information. The code on top of the...

Re: Signs of an engine overhaul?

Some further searching shows that the red color came on 425 and 455 engines from 1968-69, so maybe it was replaced. Does it look like the heater hose is connected in a loop? And shouldn't there be a metal tube running across the passenger side valve cover for that hose?

Signs of an engine overhaul?

I have looked at a lot of pictures on the web of Toronado engine bays, and most all of the engines are painted the blue color. I see an ad for a 1966 Toro nearby and it has a photo of the engine, but it is not that normal color I'm used to seeing. This thing is painted red, which makes me ponder the...

Re: 1966 Seats

I finally figured it out, but Otto pointed me in the right direction. They are most definitely GM seats, and from the year 1970. You all know what other GM front wheel drive luxury cars were being produced at that time, and it is definitely one of them. A Google search showed that the front seats fr...

1966 Seats

I don't own a Toronado but have always been interested in them. I live in SoCal and found a 1966 on CL nearby. I am confused by the seats that are in this car. They don't look like any I have seen searching around on the web. So I'm asking the collective wisdom of the board if any of you may know wh...
