That is good maintenance. Hope you have no emissions test issues in CA,

Switch pitch / kickdown switch
That for originality buffs I suppose. For half those $ you can get an electronic
switch pitch controller, that will far out perform the crude original switch.

That is such a shame, I consider much more so than a new car, which can easily be replaced by one just like it. Had a 64 have an electrical fire (alternator diode), but was able to repair it using wiring cut at the junk yard. One thing I have promoted is adding fusible links to old cars that did not...

Re: 1966 throttle cable
From what I can see, that cable is very much like many other cars. Is the length longer?
If another cable was close, the bracket on the carb could be modified to improve fit.

Re: Head Gasket Replacement
A couple years ago I needed an Olds HEI, had no problem finding a new one on Evil Bay at a very reasonable price. Been in use since then. My own advice just get an Olds HEI with the 7mm wires, works way better, no more points to change, plugs last 100,000 miles, parts are everywhere. HOWEVER, the HE...

Head Gasket Replacement
What I would think about, is converting the engine to use valve rotators. With those the late 70s engines seem never to need a valve job. I got rid of all those 60s high compression leaded gas engines (very expensive fuel), use instead big engines designed for unleaded regular. Engines must be balan...
