Re: Need parts for a 1966 restauration
http://www.toronado.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=458&p=1342&hilit=Windshield+metal#p1342 Here we go :) You could probably weld yours since you've got your interior all torn out. I didn't want to do that. I've had it patched this way for a couple years now, and it seems to be holding str...

Re: 1966 brake drums
Mine were slightly gold, but i'm fairly certain not the original finish. I've never seen a first gen that didn't have painted drums. They'd rust if they weren't painted.

Re: Need parts for a 1966 restauration
I had the same issue with my windshield when I boight my '66. After spending a year looking for a replacement, it became apparent it wasn't going to happen. I had to make my own. It really wasn't to difficult, and there's a whole big thread on here about how I did it somewhere... If I remember when ...

Re: 1966 headlights+water
Thanks for the response.. I figured the cannister up there was a vacum storgae tank of some sort what somewhat confusses me about that is there is only one line going in to into it and it supplies vacume all the time i think. So how does the vacume get out of the tank to go to the light cannister? ...

Re: '66 Low Power and Crazy Timing
After tons of research and more time with and reading the vacuum gauge, I'm beginning to think I have late valve timing. My Chilton's manual says I need to remove the engine to replace the timing chain. Can that be true? I can't fathom removing the engine on an educated hunch that my low power, poo...

Re: Engine and transmission mounts
Rockauto.com actually has a transmission mount listed in their catalog. It's a whopping $3.11... so dunno about the quality... still, can't go wrong for that price! http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/search/Engine+Mount/02327/C0019.oap?keyword=motor+mount&year=1966&make=Oldsmobile&model=T...

Re: New member
Okay... I'm not an expert by any means... But I don't believe there was a factory optioned 8-track was there? O.o This is the first I've ever heard of it at least... But, then, I'm more knowledgeable on the '66 than what changed for '67... I thought it was mostly just small changes...

Re: 66 Toro Leaf Spring Quandary(s)
Ah, but it is a matter of taste. While I do love the '66 and '67 look, I have a love/dislike relationship with pop-up headlights. Love the look when they are down, not so much when they are up. As for the next two years, I favor the front of both but somewhat prefer the tail of the '69. I also pref...

Re: 66 Toro Leaf Spring Quandary(s)
It's worth remembering the Oldsmobile emblem is a rocket ship... Space was on the tip of everyones mind in the era, and the toronado was designed to be futuristic... The 66 STILL looks futureistic :P The 1970 on the otherhand, was designed more with jets in mind, and really fits it well... Both of t...
