78 XS For Sale URGENTLY

What ever happens, don't let that 403 engine go to the crusher. Save it with its special HEI electronic module. If it doesn't end in your car, I'd pay shipping for it and the trans. Bruce Roe But the engine and trans probably account for half the value the scrapper is willing to pay him. Then I'll ...

78 XS For Sale URGENTLY

Take the glass off before you send it away. All the glass. I had a hard time getting a front windshield for my 78 Eldorado. That wrap around back glass could be worth big bucks for the right person. What ever happens, don't let that 403 engine go to the crusher. Save it with its special HEI electro...

Re: Car won't start..starts...won't start.

That's great. Pain in the but or not, it's a cheap and easy fix. Beats having to spend more money on parts! Good that's fixed. I don't use butt connectors any more; solder and heat shrink. Then there must be adequate stress around the joint. I would make sure the timing chain is good before going a...

kickdown switch, 1966 Toro

Ok Bruce, I threw away that nasty chain case cover and put a coat of POR15 on the cover. Now my questions are: What is your preferred goop for the sealing surface of the pan and gasket? How much fluid is actually in there with the chain? Thanks, David David, Certainly don't use that cork gasket on ...

kickdown switch, 1966 Toro

Hi Bruce. I would like your opinion of the usefulness of the rubber and insulation cover that normally goes on the chaincase of the TH425. I know that I have read that it is useless and should be thrown out. Since you have a comparatively vast amount of experience with these transmissions, do you a...

Re: kickdown switch, 1966 Toro

What about replacement torque converters? What do people use for that if they convert to switch pitch? Where do they get them? Or do they rebuild old ones? I think the shop suppliers might still have them. If you can find a switch pitch trans (seen on EB*Y), it ought to have one. And there are othe...

Re: "66 project update

The poly bushings pivot between the inner sleeve and the bushing and are greased when assembled. Being harder than the original rubber they will not wear in the same way the original ones would. (Shurkey, feel free to jump in here) Sounds like some grease fittings could help. I have some in bracket...

Re: "66 project update

We have about 1.5 days to go over details for body work, then it's ready for paint. It's just getting that done. Meanwhile, it's easier for me to work at wiring, etc. before we put too much back on. God, what a project. My Pre- and Post war Hudsons will seem like a breeze after this! When I got my ...
