Re: 70, 67, or 66 Toronado wanted

The DKW is neat but probably a little more difficult to find parts for.

Re: New member about to buy a 1970 Toro

I totally agree with 1970wd40. You will spend a fortune trying to restore that car in Greece. In fact, it would be a tough row to hoe even in the USA. You could buy a nicer one in the United States and have it shipped to Greece for less money than you would spend trying to make that one usable. I'd ...

Re: 70, 67, or 66 Toronado wanted

Those redline tires look great on that white car. Too bad the person that wrote the ad copy doesn't understand how to write using use paragraphs. I couldn't read the whole thing without losing my place. When you find one, try and go see it yourself before buying or try to find someone local to go lo...

Re: For those who are restoring their car...

This was my only car for 14 years until I bought the Toronado. Now they share daily driver duty - including vacations of over 1000 miles round trip. There's no such thing as a car that's too nice to drive.

Re: 70, 67, or 66 Toronado wanted

Yes, that one with the hood scoop and the wrong wheels is best left alone unless you're into other people's hot rods. Unless those wheels were custom made, they won't have the correct offset - which is considerable on the Toro and Eldo. You will damage the wheel bearings and possibly break a spindle...

Re: 70, 67, or 66 Toronado wanted

All of the original interior fabrics and vinyl are available from SMS in Oregon. No need to customize an interior unless that's your schtick. I avoid cars that have become other people's failed or half finished projects. You never know what has been done, who did it or what level of care or quality ...

Re: 70, 67, or 66 Toronado wanted

It was quite impressive to look at. Every nut and bolt was redone like new. Still, $50K is way out of the range for these cars, I think

Re: 70, 67, or 66 Toronado wanted

Supposedly this one sold through Hemmings for $47K after being listed for $55K and having a $100K+ restoration. It didn't even have AC!

Re: 70, 67, or 66 Toronado wanted

DSC03922.JPG These pictures were all taken the same day I bought the car. I didn't do anything to the car before these pics were taken. Admittedly I got a very good deal on it as I was told by some friends that the guy I bought it from was planning on selling it for $15-$20K. In any event, there ar...
