Re: Makin' it happen

I did use the bushing replacements for the rear springs, and pretty sure they were a tight fit and that I got them from Steele; the issue was getting them in, not that they were too small. I will have to go back and see what we used when we redid them a couple of years ago. I thougtht they were fine.

Re: New here, new to a 66 Toronado

I don't know why I mixed that up, but my opinion of you has improved Otto since I know you're from Georgia and NOT Floriduh. LOL! Damn, they have some sassy ladies down there though! It's funny that you mention Buick, because it's exactly the brand of car they usually drive and meant to put that in ...

Re: New here, new to a 66 Toronado

Otto and I agree completely on the brakes. Drums are fine. If you're going to play Mannix all day, go ahead and change them to disc. Frankly, these cars are expensive enough to repair without adding unnecessary costs and alterations in my opinion. Just fix up the drum brakes properly and you'll be i...

Re: New guy looking at 1966

I did get a lot of the rubber parts from both Steele and Fusick for door/window seals. You can get trunk seals from one of them as well. Windshields do not use rubber, but are sealed in with butyl tape. Rubber body biscuits ,, radiator supports, etc. can be had from Steele. Certain other small rubbe...

Re: New here, new to a 66 Toronado

Great looking car! If you can, please post where you're located. Then others in the club/forum that live nearby will know how to contact you, and possibly help you get those headlights working again.

Re: Considering a '66 Toronado

Overall, this 66 Toro looks in pretty standard condition looking at the engine compartment. It doesn't have Comfortron, so it's easier to get all the heater/AC system back up and running -- not as complicated. THere's and extra vacuum ballast tank or the one on the car has been removed, or its' the ...

Re: '66 Toronado Seat Covers

Carpet is fairly cheap. You can even buy the correct stuff from Fusick for that. You'll probably have to go SMS as Otto states. If fabric inserts, get that material from SMS. If just vinyl (probalby Madrid pattern). just have your upholsterer order new Madrid vinyl instead of buying the older origin...

Re: Considering a '66 Toronado

Upholstery related items aren't a problem. Engine gaskets, not a problem, but you should consider removing the engine and not only replacing the gaskets, but the timing chain and gear. It may well have the old original nylon gear, which will have remnants of the nylon pieces left on the oil pickup t...

Re: Upholstery

Yes, Otto it does. Mine was in reasonably good shape, so will use it. There are no reproductions available any longer.
