Very nice. Good to make sure the original timing chain set has been
replaced, and the brakes are top notch. Bruce Roe

Re: WTB: The Infamous Engine, 5.7L Diesel
I have 3 Olds built with the diesel, got a lot of experience with them before eventually changing over to an Olds 403. The most useful info was that the diesel best be used with a switch pitch TH400 trans. The 200 trans my cars came with very soon failed, the lockup clutch drove me crazy. There was ...

Re: Fuel Sending Unit
The biggest problem with gauge accuracy is the float arm. The float motion should be just enough to touch the top and the bottom. Note on the left stock unit, the float will not even move till the gas level drops by 1/3. Then it drops like a rock. The arm on the right has been lengthened and bent to...

1966 Toronado 425 V8 engine overhaul need help
There is more than one way to skin a cat, and I am no valve expert. Adjustable push rods exist, I have not put any into service. I would define "best way" as one which is affordable and achieves a long service life. What I described is exactly equivalent to the adjustable nut used on some ...

Re: 1966 Toronado 425 V8 engine overhaul need help
We just received the Mondello tool ... so we now can begin to set up the valves at the correct height and control also springs position vs. valve stem top ... what worries us a bit is that as we surfaced both the heads and the engine block , this will have an impact ... probably not compensated eno...

Re: octane for 425
I want to add the Water Injection to allow more timing advance which would pull more power out, but I have to convert to MultiPoint Fuel Injection first. Does that mean port injection? Factory intakes are available for big block Cads and small block Olds, but you need to make your own intake for a ...

Re: octane for 425
Water injection has also worked for me, but keeping it filled up is a pain. A total redesign for E85 would work. Personally I just use 76 or later engines, mostly 403s here, which have torque but down on peak HP, but perfectly happy on the cheapest unleaded. Using an electronic switch pitch controll...

Re: newbie needs 79 mounts
Neither one of those oil filter mounts should hit the engine or proper Toronado oil pan. The 3429 filter is only slightly larger dia than the mount, should also clear. I expect the problem is hitting the starter solenoid. Olds starter is on left side for RWD, but the FWD trans puts it on the right s...

I no longer have a car with that setup, so hard to be certain. If you just need
to space it out, a block of aluminum with 5 holes drilled, and an extra gasket,
ought to do it. I thought mine swings the oil filter (a 3429 or equivalent) more
away from the starter. Bruce Roe
