Re: newbie needs 79 mounts

That is a standard RWD filter mount, cannot be used on FWD. Lets see
the mount I sent you. Also uses a smaller dia filter. Bruce Roe

Re: oil filter base stopped progress Re: newbie needs 79 mounts

now tinkering the exhausts; just to get it tested; but the oil filter base is now the problem; it has its own base? it just dont fit with the starter- not even with remote filter locating kit! the oil filter base needs to be atleast 3/4inch thicker to move the filter base further away from starter....

Re: Quadrajet Boiling

Its good to have a Wide Band OX sensor. These are AMAZING, telling you exactly what is going on with the mixture, directly responding to any adjustments. The internal circuit is complex, but that is taken care of for you. I built my own in 2000, still using it. Any air pump needs to be stopped to us...

Re: 1966 Toronado 425 V8 engine overhaul need help

I do not doubt these "hobby cars" can be driven limited miles without hardened seats. But my 60s cars were of the age when ring and valve jobs were common, a car with overt 100,000 miles was considered worn out. But with the late 70s engines all that stopped, end of the constant maintenanc...

GM Passkey on 4th Gen Toros

Except for some very expensive military units, integrated circuits are not
so well sealed, and moisture can eventually do them in. That or cosmic rays.
I would disable that function if you can. good luck, Bruce Roe

1966 Toronado 425 V8 engine overhaul need help

Are your new lifters really for a Toronado 425? Its a special design with 0.921" diameter and was only used with 1966-67 400 and Toronado 425 engines! I tried very often and hopeless to get a new set. Not at Rockauto or other performance auto shops. Mostly they try to sell 0.8425" lifters...

Oil Pressure

Wow! At operating temperature my engine is around 21 at idle. It still runs like a scalded dog, though. Your number make me want to double check mine, now! I have a theory, that as an engine wears, oil pressure esp at idle gradually drops and that lowest pressure causes the whole wear process to st...

Re: 1969 Fuel Tank

Bruce, how long have your tanks been "Renu'd"? I assume you're happy with the results or you'd be warning us off. I suppose the first was 20 years ago. Since I keep spare tanks for all (very old) cars on a shelf, they get rotated into service about every 1.5 decade. I have not been keepin...

Re: 1967 Toronado Harmonic Balancer Counterweight

I thought the same balancer fit all Olds V8s, weight differences were taken care
of in the crank weights. Bruce Roe

Re: 1967 Toronado Harmonic Balancer Counterweight

Had that experience of spun timing mark a few time, one came completely off. My fix was a FLUIDAMPER using liquid silicone inside, no parts that can ever come loose. There were a couple issues with it. The first problem was the friction fit onto the crank. 60s stuff just slid on, Olds started making...
