Head Gasket Replacement

A problem with the 66-67 flex plate for 425, is it does not interchange with the 68 up, different bolt pattern. Maybe the weights too, do not know. Unfortunately the teeth tend to get worn at the 4 positions where the engine is likely to stop. For Toronado only 68 up use a flex plate with deeper tee...

Check the throttle linkage to see if the trans wiring is stock, or has been converted
to an electronic switch pitch controller. Cannot see in the pic. Bruce Roe

Re: Toronado Intake Manifold Exhaust Crossover Problem

I am no fan of spending a lot of money on paint, feels like a terrible ripoff. I like
Ford Blue for engines, nothing on transmissions. Bruce Roe

Fuel Sending Unit

I have had good results cleaning them up. New sock, make sure all electrical connections to the level sensor are good. Last one I changed out the in tank EFI pump. Hose for those must be fuel submersible and set for pressurized operation. I also modify the float arm for accuracy, must just touch top...

The Fitch Toro had a switch to manually activate the torque converter high stall. But
I developed an automatic electronic version that works much better. Bruce Roe

Re: Head Gasket Replacement

In the '60s and '70s , GM used timing sprockets that were coated in Nylon as a noise reduction technique. Yes that was the excuse released to the public. I have been removing nylon cam sprockets from my cars for decades, never could hear any difference in noise. But I am sure a conversation like th...

The 403 is mostly based on the 350, but the bore is even larger than a Cad 500.
The engine of choice here, because this largest small block runs, and runs, on

Re: Head Gasket Replacement

It seems like the thickness for every head gasket on the market for this car is between 0.038-0.044 inches. Is the specs on the head gasket thickness in the service manual (I don’t have it with me right now)? For my case, the pros outweigh the cons since the head gasket was rusting and allowing coo...

Head Gasket Replacement

For heavy intake manifolds, I just use a chain hoist or the like, to
carefully lower it into position without having to bear the weight.
