Re: Firestone TFD Tire

Well, having a TFD/FWD molded into a modern SBR will probably not ever happen. :( That aside, a modern SBR will never have the same look/profile as an OEM type bias ply tire. They are simply just way too different of a design. Most folks with REALLY nice Toros are running Michelins, BFG, Goodyear, T...

Re: Pulling, and rebuilding my '66 425

I first have to ask.....why do you think the engine needs a rebuild? How many miles are on it? Also, stay away from gimicky performance mods and cams. That 425 when running/tuned right etc etc, is PLENTY enough of a screamer! Electronic ignition and MAYBE C-heads are all you need for upgrades. Most ...

Re: Firestone TFD Tire

Early original TFD tires in exceptional shape are very hard to come by, and if you do, get out your Platinum Card as they go for HUGE money! I must have 8-9 original Firestone TFD/FWD skins but wouldn't put them on a car. Also, Larado (I believe made by Goodrich) made a FWD version for Toronado and ...

Re: '68 fuel gauge inop

Dave, Yes, I'm pretty sure there is a trouble shooting guide in the Shop Manual. Usually, an inop fuel gauge is a bad ground or contact. It's more rare that the gauge itself or sending unit is bad. Easy enough to test/check though. First, with battery cable disconnect (ALWAYS) pop off the inspection...

Re: 69 Door glass wanted

I'm pretty sure ALL glass interchanges between 1966-1970 on Toronado. I have a feeling that Eldorado does NOT however. Get a hold of John Dorcey, he probably the glass you need and will know if Eldorado might also swap out.

Re: Bad noise in my 67.

With any luck, it's the water pump. Check it for wobble and weeping. Take belts off and spin it to see if it makes noise. Otherwise, try and determine better where the noise is from and isolate. Use the old screwdriver to your ear method if you have to. If it's internal.....it sounds like a bearing,...

Re: Vacuum Tank Decal

I'm more a 66/67 guy and know there weren't any stickers on these vacuum tanks. However, I don't ever recall seeing a sticker on any vacuum tank....regardless of year. Not that I doubt you, but what is your reference to a sticker? What did it say and look like? Was it a diagram of some sort? Would t...
