Re: Kanter disc conversion kit
I agree with Otto. There is a thread of mine on here that describes what to do to perfect a drum brake system. If you are driving the Toronado as a 50 year old classic should be driven, the drum system will be fine.

Re: 66 TORONADO FRONT BRAKES
NAPA lists the '66 front and rear drums as the same at $89 each. When I restored my complete system for a '69, I contacted http://www.brakematerialsandparts.com/. They built new brake shoes for me using a soft composite, non-metallic, bonded brake lining material. They got new drums for me from a lo...

Re: Headlamp Door Vacuum System Solution
Sorry, I have been away from the site for a while. Does anyone have any questions on this installation? Mine works fine. That model unit fits as if it was made for this use even though it was not. I left mine with a separate switch under the dash and left all of the other original vacuum gear in pla...

Re: Head light Actuator replacements?
If you search for one of my previous posts under name hbarbee or title Headlamp Door Vacuum System Solution, you will find the source for an electric actuator that I installed in a '69. The supplier had one that fit perfectly even though it was not sold for that purpose. You would need 2 for the '66...

Re: What Material Do You Prefer For Brake Shoes on 1966 Toro
I found an older posting of mine where I had reported a complete brake restoration for my 1969. It still stops as good as new. "This is the most important part that most restorers overlook: Do not get the brake shoes from any auto supply. I located a service (http://brakematerialsandparts.webs....

Replace it with a simple in line valve. Open the valve in winter when using the heater and close it in summer when using the air conditioner.

Re: Headlamp Door Vacuum System Solution
I have had no problems so far. I cycle it every chance I get even when not needed. As I mentioned in the original post, the only mod you will have to do is slightly enlarge the diameter of the hole in the bottom support plate to allow the lower shaft of the actuator to fit through. I used 2 small he...

Solution For Four Wheel Drum Brake Owners
First, let it be clear that I understand that disc brakes are far superior to drum brakes and if you have a Toronado that came with factory disc brakes, then you are much better off. However, I disagree that the brake system conversions that are often discussed are necessary for the typical Toronado...
