Re: 1967 DeLuxe Resto

Great job Roland! It looks beautiful! You are a brave soul. That rust was bad. SMS is a PIA to work with. But if you want the original materials you often have no other choice. When I have to resort to them I buy the materials and have someone else sew them up. Hope you get your seats soon. Post pic...

Re: Fan Clutch

I normally use a 180 thermostat. The theory is that a cooler thermostat allows water to flow faster thru the radiator before it has a chance to cool. When we were kids we would take the thermostat out of an overheating engine thinking that would cool it faster but it was actually was creating a bigg...

Re: Power Windows - Rear

Most window motors I have dealt with that work slow or partial and get stuck have been a problem with old grease. The grease/lube gets old and hard. I have had much success with removing and disassembling the motors, cleaning out all the old grease and re-lubing them. Almost always they will work li...

Not sure about the 68 but the master switch in the 66 can be removed without removing the door panel.

Re: Windshield Wiper Blades

I rebuilt several of the canisters for my car. One of them had a small crack that was leaking air and not working. I found some silicone lube at the auto parts store. They should have it wherever you are. I use it for o rings and such. The canisters are pretty straight forward but you are correct, r...

Re: Fuel Sending Unit

That’s odd. I’ve never seen one like that.

Mine wasn’t like that at all. But then again someone could have replaced it in the past. I got a sending unit on eBay for a 66 Eldo. It worked perfect.

Re: Heater case gasket

I used rope caulk on mine when I rebuilt it. It’s about 1/4” round. Looks like rope. Sticky tar like substance. You can get it in different sizes. Just cut off what you need. Works great. I got it at Carquest but I’m sure NAPA or any other parts house can get it.

Re: ac vent door

Not sure exactly which door you are referring to but there is one on the bottom of the box that operates in conjunction with a second door next to it. One has to be open before the other will move.
