Re: SoCal Beauty

That switch below the dash just may be for hazard flashers as those weren't a factory item in '66. I believe it may have been an option and that is where it would be located. The VIN given states the car is a deluxe model but I thought those all came with the lights in the lower front of the fenders...

Re: SoCal Beauty

No Otto, I would never pay that kind of money, but like I said, somebody might spring for it. Yeah, I don't think it is a 455 but then you never know. I didn't even realize when I was looking at the photos that the radio mast is missing; that's an easy $1000 discount. The prices you are suggesting a...

SoCal Beauty

Found this 66 Deluxe on CL and could not believe the condition of this car. Wow! It looks like it just came off the showroom floor. The asking price is steep, but in all fairness, there is probably somebody out there who will pay. Take a look and tell me what you think. Here is a teaser. https://ora...

Re: Alternator identification

The alternator you have now is configured for an external regulator, and is most likely original to the car. A check on Rock Auto for a replacement shows only 55 amp units which are most likely internal regulated. As Mr. Roe indicated, you are just fine with what you have and he has gone to the more...

Re: Newbie Question?

Thanks for clarifying that for me. Interesting that all the cars that I see this item on, no longer have any emissions equipment remaining. I think of all the photos I've seen of 66-67 Toronados, I've only come across one that had the air pump.

Re: Newbie Question?

Here is another photo from a '66 Toro showing the same part with the same mounting hardware. From this angle, it is a little easier to see the hose routing. You can see that the hose is a pretty good size. I don't see it on many Tornado's, but I have seen it enough to know that it was a factory item...

Re: Newbie Question?

As I stated, I don't own a Toronado myself, otherwise I could figure this out. I don't believe it is aftermarket because I have seen the same item on many different cars, mounted in the same location. I thought perhaps it was a differential vapor cannister. I've looked through photos of same year De...

Newbie Question?

I don't own a Toronado but have a deep interest in these cars; specifically the 66-67 models. I have been looking at quite a few photos, and I seem to come across some models which have a certain factory item that other cars of the same vintage do not. It is located on the driver inner fender. The a...

A-Pillar rust damage and repair

Have any of you had to deal with this issue? I've seen the video of the Toronado owner in Europe who had to completely fabricate the windshield channel but don't recall if there was A-pillar damage. There is a 1967 Toronado in the Los Angeles area that has noticeable damage at the base of the pillar...

Re: 455 longevity

I just wanted to say that if you look back at the time that these cars were made, they weren't expected to make 100k miles without a rebuild. I can remember that my Dad wouldn't keep a car more than 60k miles because things were starting to need repair. Ring technology was not what it is today. Valv...
