Re: l Bearings
Hi Schurkey I think you're right about chasing ghosts. I had a chat about the "issue" with another mechanic / inspection station guy I know. He seemed of the belief that, esp. on older cars, the wheel bearing are better off being a skosh on the loose side rather than too tight. He wasn't t...

Re: l Bearings
Ottto: Thank you. You and you buddy are a veritable font in information. This is all making some sense to me. I did have to press the bearings on on off the HUB so it's good to know that's a positive sign. I'm getting what's being said about the height of the bearing and seal "stack" being...

Re: l Bearings
HI Otto: Thanks for getting back to me with you buddy's input. That does make some sense, I must say. Even though I've done this job twice now, I'm having a bit of trouble "visualizing" the whole job and how it went. I have my manual here but at pg. 3EA-3 it shows the drum brake wheel ass....

Greetings All: I have a wheel bearing issue / question. First the background: 1969 Toronado. I've had it for a few years most of which time, though, it's been in in the garage and on and off the rack. I got it inspected when I first bought it and did drive it a bit. It was really uncertain on the ro...

Alignment
Greeting All: I have a alignment / vehicle question. My 69 Toro pulls hard to the right. Hard. The car pulled previously but not as bad. I had it aligned at a new local shop. Once done it tracked straight but had a lot of "play" in the steering and wandered around on the road as a result. ...

Re: Lane Wander / Steering
I'll give changing out the coupler in the steering column a go before trying anything else. It looks to be relatively cheap and hopefully easy. Thanks for the thoughts, gentlemen.

Lane Wander / Steering
Power steering issue I have a 69 Toro. Been driving it as I work on it. I’ve been partially through the front end but have not been able to eliminate the front end wander. It’s not terrible but it does have a bit of lane wander or drift which can be a bit disconcerting on narrow winding roads of whi...

Re: How to Verify Numbers Matching Car?
As I recall you need to look in three places. I did this with my car, a '69. VIN # is on the plate on the top of the dashboard driver's side visible through the windshield. I'm wasting time at my desk at work so I can't remember if the full number is on the plate on the firewall, drivers side. Motor...

Re: Interior carpet for Toronado -66
I ordered carpet for my '69 from RockAuto. I want to say it was about 230. Good quality with heavy rubber backing and came with padding for under. the carpet was accurately molded to fit the floor contours. I'm more than happy with it. It has a rectangular vinyl area in the driver's foot well which ...
