Re: 92 Brake proportioner valve

Gotcha. That car is too new for my experience but the valve can't be much different from most others. If you can't rebuild it, I'd look for a car of similar weight and layout (front engine, front drive) and see if one could be substituted. Here is a company that claims to be able to rebuild any brak...

Re: Final drive leak....

Re: Final drive leak....

That's how I change the oil in my '66 and have never seen that happen. (of course now I'm going to look for that the next time )

Re: 92 Brake proportioner valve

Are you talking about taking the valve itself apart and working on the internal components or are you talking about replacing the one on your car with a new one?

Re: Drum Brakes '69 Toronado

I forgot to mention that you still have to adjust the brakes after you install the new shoes. Follow the instructions in the FSM but basically they're the same as any other common drum brake system. Do one side at a time so you can use the other side as a reference for installation of the parts on t...

Re: 69 Toronado Quadrajet Secondaries Not Opening

The smoke sounds like a rich mixture then. When cold (in the morning before the car is started) the choke should be cracked open about 1/8".

Re: Vapor Lock on 1966 Toronado

There are a handful of places around that sell 90 octane non-ethanol fuel but not close by in metro Atlanta. At 9mpg it doesn't make sense to make special trips in the Toro to get it. I too have thought it might be a change in the fuel but who knows these days? The '56 Cad runs fine on the same crap...

Re: 69 Toronado Quadrajet Secondaries Not Opening

Yes, there are products you can buy to line the tank yourself. I did that with a 1964 Galaxie back in the 90s and its worked out perfectly. I did the same thing with my '56 Cadillac about 15 years or so ago and it too is working out well. I think it was Eastwood fuel tank sloshing compound or someth...
